Thomas Phinney – New Writing Systems: Amma & Adlam

Thomas Phinney from FontLab introduces two scripts, recently constructed for real-world languages: Amma of Sri Lanka, just two years old and West Africa´s Adlam invented in 1989.

Phinney, whose extremely profound approach to typography led him to Adobe before he joined FontLab, underlines the political relevance of scripture for the identity of people living in war zones or under difficult social conditions.
